Dalton Corporation operates two gray iron foundries, located in Warsaw and Kendallville, Indiana and one maching facility located in Stryker, Ohio. The Warsaw and Kendallville foundries produce 200,000 tons of castings annually, ranging from 5 to 600 lbs. The Stryker machining facility machines and assembles components for the automotive, refrigeration and appliance markets.
The Warsaw Manufacturing Facility was founded in 1910 by Donald J. Dalton on Warsaw's west side with 25 employees and one product - a home shoe repair kit. The foundry later moved to its present location 1924 and became incorporated as Dalton Foundries, Inc. in 1985, Dalton - Warsaw became an employee owned company. Warsaw expanded its customer base with the purchase of Newnam Manufacturing in 1992 and Stryker Machining in 1997. The company was then renamed Dalton Corporation.
The Kendallville Manufacturing Facility traces its roots to a family owned company, Newnam Manufacturing, founded in 1919 by Nicholas Newnam. Family ownership of the company ended in 1976 with the sale of the company's assets to Chromally of America Corporation. In 1982, the company was sold to Dayton Malleable, Inc. and, after a corporate name change to Amcast Industrial Corporation, to the employees. In 1992, Dalton Foundries purchased Newnam.
The Stryker Machining Facility began in 1985 at South Point, Ohio and moved to its present location in 1989. Stryker occupies a 53,000 square foot facility on a 7.5 acre site. It is a non-union facility with complete machine maintenance and rebuild capabilities.
In 1998, Dalton Corporation was acquired by Neenah Foundry Corporation which is a part of the ACP Holding Company. The corporation has experienced unprecedented growth through continuous quality and productivity improvements and employs approximately 1500 people.
